Had the honor of creating a logo for Oliver “Sailing with Phoenix” Widger’s boats! We met Oliver when he lived on his boat in the nearby marina, still learning to sail and dreaming of someday sailing around the world, which he is doing right now! He named his boats after his beloved cat, Phoenix, who lived on board with him and sailed with him on his first ocean trip, from Oregon to Hawaii (she’s stayed behind on land while Oliver’s sailing the world). This logo project was fun because it involved creative lettering, cats, and Oliver - all three, delightful elements. It’s a joy to see Oliver following his dream and a treat to see my design traveling the globe. You can follow Oliver’s journey on Instagram.

MIXED-MEDIA ART

My first mixed-media piece, created for a contest in the magazine ClothPaperScissors, was selected for publication - just a teeny tiny photo, but the experience got me hooked on this art form. I get to put my own new spin on all sorts of traditional art practices like embroidery, calligraphy and paper sculpting. You can see my unique style of visual art in my collection of original mixed-media poems, THE WORLD, CLEVERLY DISGUISED, available at AMAZON and LULU.
